Charging, for a birthday gift? What a horrible mother! 😉 (Also, without the coloring it seems noir-ish, which is kinda fitting?) (Great job as always! 🙂 )
Holy shit, Depression #455 is famous! I didn’t even put the two together that the Clay who did that was you when I saw it making the rounds on facebook. Boy do I feel like an idiot now.
You could totally make a t-shirt design based on that strip and make some merch money.
Thanks so much for keeping up the SL strips. As I mentioned before, the pleasure of viewing a new SL back in the early days of the web was really important for me. Am pleased to be able to support you via Patreon.
I MISSED THIS!!!!!! Awesome old school strip. Also looks fantastic.
This one feels like a Thin H Line entry but you can easily see Clay’s growth as a writer and artist since those days. Think I may actually prefer Sexy Losers in black and white.
Maybe if she got reborn. I mean, if she reincarnated right after her final death, technically, she’d be slightly older than she was when she first committed suicide. Right?
1981-1999(18)
2001(torn apart by dogs)
Assuming she was reborn shortly after, she would be 18-19 years old today(although obviously, the comic time may not correspond to our own, but then again you could go both forwards and back with this.)

Think I got more chuckles out of the comments than the comic but that doesn’t mean I dislike it. Keep up the good work and keep me smile/groan! Thanks again!
Whew! Took me two days without medication, a panic attack, a few laughs, several chuckles, and many a sheepish smirk, but I finally binged this whole dang thing!
I read SL for the first time around 2010. It was unlike any other webcomic I’ve ever encountered and that’s even truer 10 years and change later. The comics all hold up. I really appreciate the commentary you’ve left on some of the earlier ones, Clay, to provide insight into your creative process. The level of detail you go into discussing the time and place you were when working on it, how you got the ideas, and the minutiae of detail on how you do the character blocking, lighting, and layout, alongside how your own personal boundaries and attitudes change and evolve over time is extremely enlightening.
I realize what it reminds me of. It’s very similar to the kinds of comments Bill Watterson made in the marginalia of the “Essential Calvin and Hobbes” omnibuses where he discussed his sources of inspiration, decisions on how he picked which comics to do in color/as Sundays, and his discussion of metatextual problems. I appreciate your decision to share some of what was going on “behind the scenes” as it were both in the comments here and on the tumblr post where you discuss the hardship SL created for you. I am truly sorry you are another artist victim to the ongoing Disneyfication of the internet and a consequence of it being ground down to 4 sites without room for art featuring some of the things in SL.
I really respect you for commentary like on strip #8 where you talk about how your views have changed and how you wouldn’t do a transphobic punchline today even though everyone was doing them in 99. As others have said here and in other strips, the decision not to George Lucas stuff like this is really ethical and cool. I think of it much like the Looney Tunes Censored Eleven, which are uncut and unedited to allow people to view them and not pretend they didn’t happen.
I understand you’re focusing on your paying sfw stuff now, and I’m going to go buy and read some of it next. I have no idea what kind of numbers this site does, but I’d like to suggest putting the link you have in the footer by the copyright notice in the header breadcrumb trail or the sidebar so it’s easier to see. If this choice is intentional to avoid linking SL to your more mainstream work, then ignore the words from my word hole.
I am delighted to see you are updating the comic again and look forward to the next ones. How wonderful that Sexy Losers is still going after 21 years.
You could always create an onlyfans account and use it basically like patreon for adult content. Those people taking low quality nudes for money are getting paid, after all.
Just wanted you to know man, your comics have kept me entertained for the longest time, and I’ve always read your comics for even the slightest smile or chuckle. Keep on keeping on mate! (◕‿◕)

Sorry I didn’t color this, I really hate colouring these

I’m just fucking lazy
Char says
Nothing wrong with being lazy. Wish my laziness resulted in something like you’re able to accomplish, lol.
clay says
Everybody is awful in this comic.
Char says
Yeah, in a way it’s great, lol. Always sunny before always sunny existed. Wonder if they got some inspiration from you….
Topagae says
A patreon is still a good idea. You do great work! Thanks for all the content over the years.
clay says
I do have a patreon, just for my sfw stuff. Patreon doesn’t approve of the themes in this comic.
J says
OnlyFans?
clay says
Only fans does not do PayPal
Lincolm says
Just found you through this, can’t wait to look at more from you! And really hope to see more of these two, really hot man
Jim says
Another great strip =)
clay says
see, it doesn’t matter if I colour these
Alan says
You should have a “proxy” comic that has a patreon that we all secretly know about.
clay says
Nobody clicks on the “Clay” at the bottom of the page.

This SL strip is terrific too btw (as always). Color isn’t always necessary though you do have a knack for it

Very few people know it’s the fap guy when they read depression comix
raznaak says
Wait wait wait.
You’re the dude behind Depression Comix?
WHY did I just find that out now?
clay says
Nobody noticed all the cameos and that Goth Chick is a regular character

Today is my birthday. Thanks for the gift, I guess

Thank you for the support. I keep this updated just so that people don’t know if it’s abandoned or not

two updates a year is really generous imho

It’s always good day when an SL comic is posted. Thanks Clay!

Nope. That’s why these days are special 🙂

My next one will be four empty panels with me saying fukkit I’m too lazy to pencil this one

I bet we’ll all still comment saying we missed you
(but seriously, its good to see a new strip, even if it’s only occasionally)

Am I crazy or is this a remake of an older (possibly THL) strip? Could have sworn I’ve seen the exact script before.
clay says
This is a redraw of a Tumblr strip. Seemed a shame to let it linger in obscurity.
M says
Ah, right, the revival that finished off Shiunji’s storyline(maong others). This guy and the one from 203 should get a drink together sometime.
clay says
Some of the strips have been either redone or just coloured and put into the series. I prefer redrawing, I need the practice.
stalker2thestars says
…and yet Patreon has no trouble hosting the humorous pornographic comic This Romantic World. Every bit as explicit as SL. Just sayin’.
clay says
Actually, it’s not the explicitness, it’s the theme.
stallion says
fuck patreon, your comics are legendary and shouldn’t end up on a site that allows nobodies to beg for money after producing only one shitty drawing
clay says
In fairness, it’s not Patreon, it’s PayPal. PayPal has Patreon by the literal balls on this.
Erich Scheidle says
I wonder, if their is a chance to see something from The Suicide Girl again. That was my favorite webcomic of yours.
clay says
Dogs ripped her to pieces, Erich. Do you really want to see her again??
M says
Maybe if she got reborn. I mean, if she reincarnated right after her final death, technically, she’d be slightly older than she was when she first committed suicide. Right?

I’m either too high to understand this or not high enough
